SELF DEFENCE
While many different traditional martial arts like Boxing, Muay Thai, Karate, Judo, Tae Kwon Do etc, can boast some genuine real life self defence skills, nothing compares to MMA because it uses the best techniques from many of the arts and blends them into a sport and art that works best in any self defence situation, whether standing or on the ground, whether you are in an obviously dominant position, or a really bad position (like on your back).
